Yes, today was the day that I achieved the American Dream: I signed the papers for my first house. It was a bit overwhelming at times, and I think I might have signed my name a gazillion times, but it was so neat to know that in the year 2040 I will own a house! :-)
I'm super excited about my housing costs going down - I'll actually be saving about $200 a month on my housing costs, which is very good considering I'm taking about a 5% pay cut for the next school year. And I'll be building equity AND it will be MY house! I can do anything to the walls, paint whatever I want, plant a garden, change the cabinets, it's ALL MINE! (Well, the bank's but I'm paying towards ownership)
It was a very exciting day. And now, my to do list is epic and I'm kind of wishing I could fast forward a month and be done with the whole moving thing but...I'm super happy. And I feel like a grown up. I'm hoping this translates into lots of good grown-up-y things.
