Two Sides of the Coin

During a chat with my wonderful friend Mel, she said the following:

"Loneliness and freedom are a two-sided coin."

I love my life.  I have a sense of contentment as I navigate through my daily adventures.  My job is going smoothly (with the odd days of stress, but who doesn't have that?), and my friendships and family connections are growing stronger. I have people I love, places I love, things I love. I enjoy going places whenever I want.  I enjoy doing what I want whenever I want.  But....

There are times when it gets lonely.  Coming home to two furry creatures who can't engage in conversation isn't the same as coming home to a husband and a "How is your day?"  It's not the same as coming home to children who want to tell you about their day.

No partner and no children gives me freedom.  But no partner and no children makes my life lonely.  Two sides of the same coin - I think for right now, I'm going to focus on the freedom side, it's just a flip of a coin.  Let's see how it lands.
