Bribery

As a teacher, I'm familiar with the idea of bribery.  A sticker here, a root beer float there (NEVER underestimate the power of a root beer float), children will work hard for a bribe...er, reward.  So, I decided to use the same idea in my personal life.  I now have a spreadsheet ('cause yes, I am a Geek) that I can fill out when I do a task and then I'll earn a dollar towards something I want to buy.  Some sample items?  Being on time to work (a DAILY battle that I lose more often than I win), not drinking soda, taking a daily walk.  It's working out well so far - I've earned $13 this week.  The first item I'm buying:  the WiiFit Plus.

I'll let you know how it works in the weeks to come.

  1. That's a good idea! I should try that on me.

  2. well, it didn't help me to be on time to work this week, but it did motivate me to get some walks in. So...we'll see how it works if I keep it up.
